 Experience: None! This is for anyone, no experience of crafts or sewing neccessary as sewing is not involved, just careful manipulation of fabric, which your tutor will help you with. For adults and children aged 13+.

Workshop content:

  • Make a rolled edge drum lampshade in your own choice of fabric to be used as a ceiling pendant or table lamp shade. It is a simple method of applying fabric to a self adhesive flame retardant lining. No glue required.
  • Choose from 20 or 30cm diameter shade (reply to your e-booking confirmation at least 2 weeks before the class to tell us which size you want). If you are booking this with less than 2 weeks until the workshop we will do our best to have both sizes available, but you may need to be flexible on size. Email us to check so we can reserve one for you


What to buy or let us know prior to workshop:

  • Fabric to bring - could be old curtain fabric or new fabric in the following size:
    • Fabric for 30cm diameter shade: 1m wide x 30 cm high cm
    • Fabric for 20cm diameter lampshade: 65cm wide x 25 cm high We suggest a medium weight fabric. Poly cotton or cotton should be ok - not too nylony! Open weave is not usually recommended as the light attracts dust and is difficult to clean or dust. Saying that, we're seeing even crocheted lampshades - so it is a personal choice really.
  • Which size shade do you want us to give you on the day? 20cm or 30cm diameter -  reply to your e-booking confirmation to tell us
  • Do you want more shade kits to make at home? The cost of one lampshade is included in the price, but if you would like addtional lampshade kits to make more at home please reply to your e-booking confirmation to let us know the sizes of any extras you want.
    • Add £3 to the prices below if you want your shade with bronze metallic lining instead of white 
      • 20cm, £11.50
      • 30cm, £14.50
      • 40cm, £15.50
      • 45cm, £16.50
      • 70cm, £35.00      payable on the day to the tutor in cash
